Virtual Report Launch: The State of Undocumented Educators in New York State

CUNY-IIE hosted the virtual launch of the report titled “The State of Undocumented Educators in New York” on Tuesday, February 28 from 7:00pm - 8:00pm ET. 

The report highlights the experiences of DACA recipients and undocumented professionals in the field of education. Based on focus groups and a survey of undocumented immigrants and DACA recipients, the report describes the challenges and conditions faced by undocumented immigrants to obtain a degree in education and work in their field.

CUNY-IIE hosted the virtual book launch of Living, Learning and Languaging Across Borders: Students Between the US and Mexico by Tatyana Kleyn on Thursday, March 3 from 5:00pm - 6:30pm ET.

The book focuses on migration and education policies and pedagogies grounded in the fluid lives of transborder students between Mexico and the United States, while the photography presents their experiences in a visual dimension that words alone cannot capture.

The groups represented included: Flanbwayan, the NYSYLC (New York State Youth Leadership Council), RAISE (Revolutionizing Asian American Immigrant Stories on the East Coast), and ImmSchools.

Artist/scholars led mini-workshops using a variety of methods (poetry, digital art-making, collage, etc) and engaged participants in creating their own artworks to be shared digitally via the CUNY-IIE Gallery.
